Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor athletic department may have put together the finest academic and athletic year in the program’s history in 2009-10. The Cru qualified more teams for American Southwest Conference Championship Tournaments than any other ASC school. UMHB also tied the school single-year record for teams advancing to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Belton, TX—The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will host a summer boy’s basketball camp for children entering grades 3rd and up this summer. UMHB head men’s basketball coach Ken DeWeese and UMHB assistant coach Jimmy Smith will conduct the camp. A staff of area high school coaches and current UMHB collegiate players will assist Coach DeWeese. Ken DeWeese has compiled a 615-214 won-lost record as a collegiate head coach and has guided the Cru to the postseason in 11 of his 12 seasons at UMHB. Coach Jimmy Smith just completed his first season as assistant coach at UMHB and has also worked as a graduate assistant on the Division I level at Sam Houston State University.

Kellie Thomas represents the UMHB women while Zane Johnston was the men’s team representative on the conference academic honor squad.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball team could not find an answer for Wheaton College’s hot three-point shooting and smothering defense and the Cru fell to the Thunder 73-58 in an NCAA Division III National Championship First Round game Thursday night in Belton. The loss ends UMHB’s season at 22-7. Wheaton improves to 19-8 overall and advances to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball team will face Wheaton College in an NCAA Division III National Championship First Round Game at the Mayborn Campus Center tonight at 7:00 PM. It will be the first NCAA postseason home game in the history of the Cru men’s basketball program and UMHB will be making its third overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
