Women's Tennis wins two titles at ITA Southwest Regional Tournament

San Antonio, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team closed out play at the ITA Southwest Regional Tournament in San Antonio by winning two titles with one more championship guaranteed to come. The Cru women posted wins in “A” singles and “B” doubles on Sunday and two UMHB players will face off for the “B” singles title on Wednesday in Belton.

In “A” singles, Brittni Fausett won the championship for her second title of the fall. She topped Auvi Tran of U.T.-Dallas 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals before beating top-seeded Mackenzie Knoop of Trinity University 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match. Fausett also won flight one singles at the American Southwest Conference Individual Tournament last weekend. As "A" singles champion, Fausett will now advance to the ITA Small College National Tournament in Mobile, Alabama in October.

Angelie Juaneza advanced to the finals of the “A” consolation bracket with a 4-6, 6-4, 14-12 win over Leanna Haynes of Schreiner University in the semis. Juaneza then lost to Mindy Tiu of U.T.-Dallas 6-1, 6-4 in the title match.

In flight “B” singles, UMHB's Hannah Warren and Tawnie Yeaw will meet for the championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center in Belton. Warren advanced with a 6-0, 6-0 semifinal win over Schreiner's Kelley Spahn. Yeaw advanced by beating Karyn Swink of Schreiner 7-5, 6-7(6), 10-5 in the semifinals.

Yeaw and Warren also teamed to win “B” doubles by posting a 9-7 victory over Ali Goodwin and Sarah Case of LeTourneau University in Sunday's championship match.

The tournament closes out the fall schedule for the Cru women.
