Football places two on Academic All-District Team

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed two players on the ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District VI Team released by CoSIDA today. Quincy Daniels and Lee Munn represent the Cru on the Academic honor team and both players will now move on to the Academic All-American ballot.
            Daniels is a junior running back and marketing major from Belton High School. Daniels is second on the Cru with 528 rushing yards on 85 carries and he has a team-high eight rushing touchdowns despite missing two full games with an injury. Daniels also has four receptions for 61 yards on the year. He is making his second appearance on the Academic All-District team after also earning First Team honors as a sophomore in 2007.

            Munn is a senior defensive back and exercise and sport science major from Paul Pewitt High School in Omaha. Munn is fifth on the Cru in tackles with 32 on the season. He also has 2.5 tackles for loss, three pass break-ups and an interception that he returned 31 yards for a touchdown.

            The College Division All-District Team is made up of Division II, Division III and NAIA players from Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. The team is voted on by sports information directors from the district and the All-American team will be selected by a nationwide vote of SID's. To be eligible for the Academic All-District and All-American Teams, a player must be a sophomore, junior or senior and carry at least a 3.20 GPA.

            The Cru is currently 7-1 overall and 5-1 in American Southwest Conference play on the season. UMHB will travel to Brownwood this weekend to take on Howard Payne University (4-4, 2-4 ASC) in a 2:00 PM kickoff on Saturday.
