Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball player Joseph Villegas won the Prospect League batting title this summer and was also named to the league's Postseason All-Star Team. Villegas is a graduate of Hays High School and will be a senior outfielder for the Cru this season. He batted a league-best .363 this summer and also had a league-high 62 base hits. Villegas added seven doubles, three triples, 17 RBI and 11 stolen bases while playing for the Richmond RiverRats in the wood-bat Prospect League. Villegas' batting average was 13 points higher than the next closest hitter. He was also named to the league's Postseason East Division All Stars and earned a spot on the circuit's midseason All-Star team, as well. Villegas will enter the 2010 season needing just four base hits to tie the UMHB career record of 208 set by Willard O'Neal.
