Joseph Villegas has been named Preseason All-American by D3baseball.com. Villegas, a senior outfielder from Hays High School, was named to the web site's Second team.
Villegas is coming off a season in which he hit .465 with six home runs, 39 RBI and 19 stolen bases. He also totaled 72 hits. 47 runs, six doubles and five triples and earned Third Team All-American honors from D3baseball.com. Villegas is on pace to break almost every major UMHB career offensive record this season and he is a two-time All-American and a three-time ASC All-West Division First Team selection.
The Cru finished the 2009 season with a 22-17 overall record and UMHB went 12-9 in ASC play and advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament for the third straight season. UMHB will open the 2010 season on February 2nd with a 7:00 PM road game at Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
