Women's soccer falls to Mississippi College 6-2

Clinton, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fell behind early and never recovered in a 6-2 loss to Mississippi College Saturday afternoon in Clinton, Mississippi. The loss drops the UMHB women to 3-8-1 overall and 3-5 in American Southwest Conference play on the season. The Choctaws improve to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in ASC play with the victory.
 
Mississippi College built a 3-0 first-half lead, scoring all three goals in a 16-minute span starting at the 26:11 mark. Melanie Brenner would add two more second-half goals for the Choctaws to push the lead to 5-0. Maizey Cardy would score off an assist from Lexy Smith in the 61st minute to cut the lead to 5-1. MC would score again before Briana Alston scored an unassisted goal for the Cru to close out the scoring with 1:28 remaining.
 
Brenner scored three goals for the Choctaws and Macey Lee added two. Meredith West and Erica Harris combined for two saves in goal for UMHB. The Cru was outshot 18-14 in the loss.
 
UMHB will now return home to host McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University next weekend. Those matches will start at 1:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and will be the final home matches of the year for the Cru women.
