Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will post another first for the program during the 2011 season as the Cru plays six home games for the first time in the 14-year history of UMHB football. The Cru released its 2011 varsity schedule today.
UMHB will kick off the 2011 season with back-to-back home games, including the season opener against Wisconsin-La Crosse on September 10th. The Cru will open American Southwest Conference play the following week with a 6:00 PM home game against McMurry University on September 17th. UMHB will face Hardin-Simmons University in the first road game of the season on September 24th. The Cru will also play home games against Louisiana College, Southern Oregon University, East Texas Baptist University and Sul Ross State University. The other three road games are at Mississippi College, at Howard Payne University and at Texas Lutheran University in the regular season finale. The schedule currently includes three night games, against Wisconsin-La Crosse, McMurry University and Mississippi College. Kickoff times for the Hardin-Simmons and Texas Lutheran games have not been finalized at this time.
The Cru finished the 2010 season with a 12-1 overall record and an 8-0 mark in ASC play. The Cru posted just the second undefeated regular season in school history and set a new school record with 12 consecutive victories. UMHB won the ASC championship for the eighth time in the last nine seasons and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships for the ninth time in the last ten years. The Cru advanced to the National Quarterfinals before falling to Wesley College 19-9.
