Football team to report to campus on Wednesday

Belton, Texas – The 2014 season will officially open for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team when the team reports to camp on Wednesday, August 13th. Student-athletes will spend that first day in physicals and meetings. The first practice of the 2014 fall camp will be held on Thursday, August 14th. Newcomers will hit the practice field at 7:45 AM before the returners open practice at 9:30 AM. The team will also run through split practices on Friday and Saturday morning before the full team practices together for the first time on Sunday, August 17th. The practice time will move to 5:30 PM for that full-team work out on Sunday. The first workout in full pads will be Monday, August 18th at 8:10 AM. All of those practices will be held at the UMHB football practice fields at the Cru Sports Plex. The current reporting list includes 123 newcomers and 99 returning players. Not all of those 222 players will report on Wednesday, however. A group of newcomers and returners will not report until classes begin on Monday, August 25th.

The Cru returns seven offensive starters and five defensive starters from a team that went 13-1 overall, including a 6-0 mark in ASC play last season. UMHB advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships before falling to eventual national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Semifinals. The Cru has now won at least one postseason game in ten straight seasons. UMHB will open the 2014 season with a 6:00 PM game at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi on September 6th. The Cru will open its home schedule the following weekend with a 6:00 PM kickoff against University of Redlands at Crusader Stadium.
