Lewisville, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team could not come up with enough offense to overcome Louisiana College’s hot start and the Cru fell to the Wildcats 3-0 in an elimination game at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Saturday in Lewisville. The loss ends the Cru’s season at 26-17 overall. UMHB was making its 11th overall appearance in the ASC Championship Tournament. Louisiana College improves to 39-6 on the year with the victory. The Wildcats also advance to face U.T.-Tyler in the ASC Tournament championship game at 2:00 PM.

Lewisville, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team could not overcome U.T.-Tyler’s four-run first inning and the Cru dropped a 9-3 decision to the Patriots in the winner’s bracket of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Lewisville. UMHB falls to 26-16 overall with the loss and moves into the loser’s bracket tomorrow. U.T.-Tyler, the #1 ranked team in country, improves to 37-5 and moves into the Championship Round tomorrow.

Lewisville, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team grabbed a late lead and then ended the game with the program’s first triple play in more than 20 years as the Cru posted a 2-1 victory over Louisiana College in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Lewisville. UMHB improves to 26-15 on the season with the victory. The Wildcats, ranked second in the nation, fall to 36-6 on the season with the loss.

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team will return to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament after a one-year absence when the Cru opens postseason play Friday morning in Lewisville. The Cru finished the regular season with a 35-15 overall record and went 21-3 in ASC West Division play. UMHB won the ASC West for the third time in the last four seasons and the fifth time overall in the program’s history. The Cru will receive a first round bye in the three-day, double-elimination tournament and will open the tournament in the second round at 11:00 AM on Friday. The Cru will face the winner of the opening round game between East Division #2 seed Louisiana College (35-5) and West Division #3 seed Hardin-Simmons University (24-11). UMHB will then turn around and play again at either 2:00 PM (loser’s bracket) or 5:00 PM (winner’s bracket) on Friday. The tournament will wrap up on Saturday and the ASC Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. All of the tournament games will be played at Railroad Park in Lewisville.

RICHARDSON, Texas –– Texas-Tyler, Louisiana College, East Texas Baptist, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Concordia Texas and Hardin-Simmons each finished in one of the top three spots in their respective divisions and will battle for the conference title at the double-elimination 2010 American Southwest Conference Softball Championship Tournament, to be held Thursday-Saturday (April 29-May1) for the first time at Railroad Park in Lewisville, Texas.

Sara Hayward
Women's Volleyball
Sara has been elected to serve as President of the UMHB Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The junior is also a standout on the court for the Cru volleyball team and she will be counted on to serve as a team leader in addition to her duties as SAAC President.
Max Taylor
Football
Max has been named of 112 finalists for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. He has helped organize the UMHB Sole 2 Soul campaign each of the past two years. That campaign has helped raise nearly $3,300 and four boxes of shoes for donation to orphans in Haiti. Max is also a Preseason All-American and one of the team leaders for the Cru football program on and off the field.
