Women's golf finishes fourth at Southwestern Invitational

Georgetown, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team held its ground on the final day and the Cru women finished in fourth place at the Southwestern Invitational Tuesday afternoon. UMHB fired a 346-357=703 team total and finished 26 strokes behind tournament host and team champion Southwestern University's 336-341=677 score. U.T.-Tyler took second place with a 345-344=689 and St. Mary's College claimed third place, finishing 10 strokes ahead of the Cru with a 339-354=693. LeTourneau University was fifth with a 376-353=729, Trinity University posted a 368-370=738 for sixth place and Concordia Texas took seventh place with a 436-415=851 team total. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,878-yard layout at Berry Creek Golf Course.
            Courtney Nelson posted the top individual finish for the UMHB women after shooting 88-87=175 to tie for 10th place. Christi Williams tied for 12th place with an 85-91=176, Allison Williams finished 16th with a 90-89=179, Catherine Andrews posted an 83-97=180 for 17th place, Alexandra Taylor finished in 21st place after carding a 97-87=184 and Mallory McAdams tied for 24th place after shooting 97-90=187. Kristen Davenport of Southwestern won individual medalist honors after shooting 85-79=164.

            The Cru women will have one more tournament before the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. UMHB will return to action with a trip to the LeTourneau University Spring Classic on April 12th and 13th. That tournament will be played at Pinecrest Country Club in LeTourneau.
