Women's golf finishes third at LeTourneau Spring Classic

LeTourneau, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team dropped one spot on the final day and the Cru women finished in third place at the LeTourneau Spring Classic Tuesday in Longview. The UMHB women fired a final round 340 to finish with a 326-340=666, 11 strokes behind team champion McMurry University's 323-332=665. Tyler Junior College finished in second place, five strokes ahead of UMHB with a 331-330=661. Texarkana Community College claimed fourth place with a 335-337=672, Schreiner University carded a 345-329=674 to finish in fifth place, tournament host LeTourneau University shot 347-352=699 and finished in sixth place and Texas Lutheran University rounded out the field with a 369-370=739 team total. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,812-yard layout at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview.
            Alexandra Taylor fired the low individual score for the Cru women during the tournament. Taylor finished in fourth place overall after shooting 81-80=161. Courtney Nelson (78-85) and Christi Williams (80-83) both shot 163's for UMHB and tied for seventh place. Mallory McAdams fired an 82-84=166 and finished in 16th place for the Cru women, Allison Williams shot 86-88=174 and tied for 23rd place and Catherine Andrews shot 89-90=179 and tied for 28th place. Jacki Marshall of Tyler Junior College won the individual title after firing a 76-74=150 total.

            The tournament was the final tune-up for the UMHB women before the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The ASC Tournament will be played April 19th and 20th at Horseshoe Bay Golf Course in Marble Falls.
