Marble Falls, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team put together two solid rounds and the Cru men are in second place after the first day of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Monday in Marble Falls. The Cru fired a 299-302=601 total and trail first-place U.T.-Tyler's 289-293=582 by 19 strokes. Schreiner University is in third place with a 316-300=616, Mississippi College posted a 304-313=617 for fourth place and Concordia Texas rounds out the top five after shooting 311-307=618. Texas Lutheran University is in sixth place after carding a 309-310=619, U.T.-Dallas shot 312-312=624 for seventh place, McMurry University holds down eighth place with a 321-304-625 and Hardin-Simmons University is in ninth place after recording a 319-329=648 today. The two-day, 54-hole event is being played on a par-71, 6,405-yard layout at Horseshoe Bay Resort.
            Johnathan Sustaita posted the top individual finish for the UMHB men. Sustaita fired a 71-75=146 and is tied for third place with Texas Lutheran's Andrew Long. Ryan Berry posted a 77-73=150 for the Cru and is tied for eighth place, Mike McQuaid is tied for 13th place after carding a 72-79=151, Spencer Turner is tied for 19th after shooting 79-75=154 and Garrison Nordt is tied for 36th place with an 85-79=164. U.T.-Tyler's Brandon Ellis has the individual lead after shooting 68-68=136, seven strokes ahead of teammate Joey Rippel's 70-73=143 total.

            The tournament will wrap up with 18 more holes tomorrow. Teams will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:30 AM. The ASC Tournament champion will claim the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The UMHB men have won back-to-back ASC titles and have four conference championships overall.
