Softball places seven on Academic All-Conference Team

Belton, TX— The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team placed seven players on the American Southwest Conference Spring All-Conference Team, released today. To be eligible for the ASC Academic All-Conference Team, a player must be a sophomore, junior or senior and have attended the school for a full year. The student-athlete must also earn a letter and maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA.
            Lindsey Gordon is a junior catcher and sport management major from Stratford High School. Kelsey Greeson is a senior pitcher/outfielder and management major from Belton High School. Courtney Johnston is a senior first baseman and education major from Fort Worth Brewer High School. Jessica Oliver is a senior outfielder and exercise and sport science major from Belton High School. Sara Roman is a junior outfielder and exercise and sport science major from St. Joseph’s High School in Bryan. Jordan Schrutka is a sophomore catcher and nursing major from Oak Ridge High School. Alyce Trevino is a sophomore outfielder and accounting major from Midlothian High School. Greeson, Oliver and Roman are two-time ASC Academic All-Conference picks. This is the first ASC Academic All-Conference selection for Gordon, Johnston, Schrutka and Trevino.
                The Cru finished the 2010 season with a 26-17 overall record and went 21-3 in ASC West Division play. UMHB won the ASC West Division for the third time in the last four years and advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament before falling to eventual conference champion Louisiana College in the semifinals.

Athletes of the Week
Tina Miller
Women's Volleyball
Tina led the Cru in kills over six matches last week. She reached double figures in kills in four of the Cru's six matches and averaged 3.27 kills per set. Miller's ,217 hitting percentage is one of the highest on the team this season.
Mark Miller
Men's Soccer
Mark was voted ASC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in leading the Cru to a pair of victories last week. He posted shutouts over Southwestern University and 16th-ranked Trinity University. Mark finished with 17 total saves and he now has 14 shutouts over the last two seasons. The Cru is currently ranked 11th in the nation in the NSCAA/HedrickCars.com Top 25 Poll, the highest national ranking in the history of the program.
