Hardin-Simmons women's tennis beats Mississippi College 5-0

Belton, TX – The Hardin-Simmons University women's tennis team rolled through doubles and then kept it up in singles as the Cowgirls posted a 5-0 victory over Mississippi College in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Belton. HSU improves to 12-7 on the spring with the victory. The loss ends the Choctaws season with a 7-11 record.
 
HSU opened strong with an 8-0 win at #2 doubles and then took wins at #3 and #1 doubles to grab a 3-0 lead moving into singles. Angie Nhan then took a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #4 singles and Jennifer Cheung won 6-2, 6-1 at #3 singles to clinch the victory. The Cowgirls also had leads in each of the other four matches on the court when the match was decided.
 
HSU will now advance to a 1:00 PM semifinal on Saturday against East Division champion U.T.-Tyler at Belton High School. The loss ends the season for the Choctaws and was also the final career match for MC senior Sydney Moak.
