Box Score Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team swept through doubles and then kept rolling in singles as the Cru women posted a 5-0 victory over Mississippi College in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Tyler. The Cru women improve to 12-5 on the spring with the victory. The loss ends the Choctaws season at 6-10.
The Cru women cruised through doubles to take a commanding 3-0 lead into the singles matches.
Mallory Aarhus then rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win at #2 singles and
Penelope Kittel won 6-2, 6-0 at #6 singles to clinch the victory. The Cru also won the first set at #1, #3 and #5 singles, losing only one set at #4 singles in a dominating performance.
The Cru women will now advance to face tournament host and four-time defending ASC Champion U.T.-Tyler in a 1:30 PM semifinal tomorrow. That match will be played at the Summers Tennis Center on the U.T.-Tyler campus and is a rematch of last year's ASC title match.
