U.T.-Dallas tops Schreiner in ASC Men's Tennis Tournament

Belton, Texas – The University of Texas at Dallas grabbed the lead during doubles and never looked back on the way to a 5-1 victory over Schreiner University in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Friday in Belton. The two teams waited out rain delays of more than five hours to get the match in.

U.T.-Dallas opened the match with Casey Clark and Dustin Foster posting a win at #2 doubles and added a victory from the duo of Byron Cole and Bryan Leib at #3 doubles. Schreiner's only win came in Austin Carrola and Stephen Rogers' 8-6 victory at #1 doubles. The Comets then swept through #4, #5 and #6 singles with Cole, Leib and Sander Kaasjager claiming wins to clinch the match.

U.T.-Dallas improves to 12-4 on the year with the victory and will face tournament host Mary Hardin-Baylor in a 2:00 PM Semifinal match on Saturday. The loss ends Schreiner's season at 7-12.
