Belton, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis player
AshLee Bilbo has been named to the Capital One Division III Academic All-American At-Large Team released by CoSIDA today. Bilbo earns a spot on the Academic honor squad for the first time in her career and gives UMHB four Academic All-Americans this school year.
Bilbo is a junior from Bryan High School. She posted a 7-4 record at #3 singles and teamed with
Brittni Fausett to record a 9-0 dual match record at #1 singles. Bilbo earned American Southwest Conference All-West Division honors in both singles and doubles. She maintains a 4.00 GPA as an organismal biology major. Bilbo was also selected to the Capital One District VIII Academic All-District Team this spring. She was voted to the Academic All-American Third Team.
The Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American Team is voted on by a nationwide vote of sports information directors. To be eligible for the Academic All-District and All-American Teams, a player must be a sophomore, junior or senior and carry at least a 3.30 GPA. The At-Large teams include student-athletes from varsity sports that do not have their own Academic All-District Team.
The Cru finished the 2012-2013 season with an 8-3 dual match record and UMHB went 5-0 in ASC play this year. The Cru won the ASC West Division and advanced to the Semifinals of the ASC Championship Tournament.
Bilbo joins football players Josh Holt and
Elijah Hudson and volleyball player Morgan Baker as UMHB student-athletes to claim Capital One Academic All-American honors this school year.
