Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team used a walk-off single to win game one and then held off a Robert Morris rally for a game two victory as the Cru swept a non-conference doubleheader from the Eagles Saturday afternoon in Belton. The Cru is now 6-7 on the season following the sweep and UMHB has won six of its last eight games after starting the year 0-5. The losses drop Robert Morris to 2-5 on the year.

Game one was pitcher's duel the entire way before Josh Fredrick's RBI single in the bottom of the eight gave the Cru a 1-0 extra inning victory. Robert Morris loaded the bases in the top of the first before UMHB's Chance Ryan pitched his way out of the jam. The Eagles would leave five runners on base through the first two innings. The Cru would get runners to second and third with two outs in the bottom of the fourth before a fly out ended that threat. It would go into extra innings before UMHB finally broke through. Braden Embry walked with one out and stole second base. He then scored the game's only run on Fredrick's soft single to left field. Ryan limited RMU to just three hits in a complete-game, shutout. He struck out eight and walked six while raising his record to 3-1 on the year. David Sindewald took the loss for the Eagles. Fredrick and Seth Mogavero had two hits apiece for UMHB in the win.

The Cru jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game two and then held on for a 7-6 victory. Reinaldo Araujo's bases loaded walk drove in the first run of the frame and Seth Lynn added a two-run double. Zach Crosswhite and Mogavero added RBI singles to make it 5-0. Araujo scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third to make it 6-0. The two teams then traded runs in the fourth to give the Cru a 7-1 lead. RMU would cut it to 7-2 with a single run in the fifth and then scored two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to cut the lead to one. Tyler Thompson's two-run double drove in the sixth inning runs and Frank Ricco had a two-run single in the seventh. Sam VanHoozer would close out the threat with two Eagles runners on base for his second save in two days. Cameron Arnett picked up the win for UMHB to move to 2-1 on the year. He scattered eight hits and allowed four runs in six innings. Fredrick and Crosswhite had two hits apiece for UMHB in the win.

The Cru will continue its home stand with a 2:00 PM non-conference game against Austin College on Tuesday at Red Murff Field. UMHB will then open American Southwest Conference West Division play with a three-game home series against Hardin-Simmons University next weekend.
