BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golfer
Elizabeth Davis has been voted the American Southwest Conference Women's Golf Distinguished Scholar-Athlete for the 2015-16 season. Davis was joined by seven additional UMHB student-athletes named to their respective scholar-athlete teams.
Davis, a senior from Houston, Texas (Houston Christian) led the Cru with a 76.95 stroke average and was selected to compete in the 2016 NCAA Division III National Championship as an individual. She was a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-West Region selection and posted five top-five finishes this season. Davis was the ASC Tournament Individual Runner-Up and is a three-time all-conference and three-time academic all-conference selection.

Scott Wilding (Men's Tennis) and
Elizabeth Ostroff (Women's Tennis) were also named to the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams in their sports. Martin (So., Gatesville.), represented baseball with a .297 batting average and a team-high 35 runs scored while Green (Sr., Klein) led the Cru in field goal percentage (.570), rebounds (166) and rebounds per game (6.6). Coffey (Sr., Pflugerville) was a key reserve for the Cru, scoring 72 points with 75 rebounds in 217 minutes of play. Brown (Jr., Groves) recorded a 76.33 scoring average with three top-10 finishes while Free (So., Henderson) batted .388 with a team-high 30 RBI. Wilding (Jr., College Station) recorded a 9-4 record at No. 1 singles for the Cru while Ostroff (Sr., The Woodlands) went 3-2 in ASC doubles play.
Davis is the second UMHB Women's Golfer to earn Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in the last three years, following Taylor O'Rear's selection in 2014. Green earns his third selection to the Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team, Brown, Davis and Ostroff earn their second nominations while Martin, Coffey, Free and Wilding are first-time honorees.
The award, in its ninth academic year, recognizes student-athletes who achieve a high level of academic achievement (a 3.20 grade-point average or better) while competing as a starter or important reserve on their team. From that list – limited to one nominee per school in each ASC championship sport – the sports information directors from the 13 ASC member institutions select a Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in each sport.
