Baseball puts five on ASC All-Conference Teams

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team placed five players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference Teams released Monday (May 17th). The Cru had one First Team honoree, placed one player on the Second Team, had two Third Team selections and one Honorable Mention honoree.
 
Andrew Acierni was voted to the All-Conference First Team. The freshman righthander from Waco High School led UMHB with a 7-2 record and a 1.89 ERA. His seven wins are the most by a UMHB pitcher since Chance Ryan won eight games in 2013. Acierni struck out 51 batters and walked just nine and added five complete games.
 
Caimyn Holiday was named to the All-Conference Second Team. The sophomore shortstop from Converse Judson High School batted .344 with one home run and 19 RBI. He led the Cru with 17 doubles and was 22-22 on stolen bases this season.
 
Hunter McQuary and Hunter Jones were both named Third Team All-Conference. McQuary, a senior catcher from Concordia Lutheran High School, batted .346 with a homer and 20 RBI. He added 16 stolen bases and threw out 13 would-be base stealers on the season. Jones, a freshman outfielder from Midway High School, led UMHB with a .371 batting average. He hit one home run and drove in 24 runs.
 
Malek Bolin earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors at first base. Bolin, a junior from Chisolm Trail High School, led the Cru with seven homers and 29 RBI. He batted .353 and also topped UMHB with a .632 slugging percentage and a .448 on-base percentage. Bolin also stole ten bases on the year.
 
This is the second ASC All-Conference honor for Bolin and the first for the other four players. The Cru finished 22-17 overall and went 13-10 in ASC play this season. UMHB advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament for the first time since 2017.
