GRANBURY, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team finished fifth at the 2023 American Southwest Conference Women's Golf Championship Tournament Sunday afternoon in Granbury.
Sarah Kmiecik led the Cru with a +11 in the tournament, finishing third individually. She carded a 74 (+2) in the final round of action, highlighted by a pair of birdies in the front nine. Kmiecik also led the tournament in par-3 scoring (-1) and recorded a tournament-high seven birdies.
Avery Hill finished the tournament at +24, tying her for 16
th place overall. She shot an 81 (+9) in the third round.
Sydney McConnell finished the tournament tied for 19
th at +27 overall. She shot an 82 (+10) in her final round of collegiate play.
Lexie Manriquez carded an 82 (+10) in her third round, ending in 25
th place individually (+34) while
Lily Self finished in 28
th with a +11 in her last 18 holes.
UT Dallas won the tournament with a 312-299-303=914 (+50). The Comets were the only team to shoot under 300 during any round of the tournament. UC Santa Cruz finished second with a 314-303-318=935 (+71) while Concordia University Texas came in third, carding a 326-304-318=948 (+84). LeTourneau University shot a 318 in the final round of action to edge the Cru out of fourth place. The YellowJackets finished at 320-320-318=958 (+94) while UMHB came in fifth at 322-318-319=959 (+95). Hardin-Simmons University (+139) and East Texas Baptist University (+186) also competed in the tournament.
UT Dallas earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. The national tournament runs May 9
th – 12
th at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
Sarah Kmiecik was also named to the all-tournament team.
