GRANBURY, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team finished the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament in fourth place Sunday in Granbury.
UMHB shot a second-round 293 (+9) to finish the tournament in fourth.
Luke Lohman was the top Crusader, shooting a second-round 73 (+2) to finish tied for seventh individually with a 145 (+2).
Trey Archer finished behind him, carding a second-round 75 (+4) to finish tied for 11
th with a 147 (+4). Will Mullin led the Cru with a second-round 71 (E) to finished tied for 20
th at 151 (+8) while
Grant Carter shot a 75 (+4) to tie with Mullin and four others in 20
th.
Darian Ruiz carded a second-round 74 (+3) to finish tied for 26
th with a 152 (+9) while Williams Sammons finished knotted at 31st with a 156 (+13) for the tournament.
Archer, Mullin and Ruiz led the Cru with three birdies each while Carter and Sammons each added one. Lohman was the lone Crusader to record an eagle while Carter led the team with 14 total pars in the second round of play. Archer ranked second in the tournament in par-5 scoring at -4 while Lohman led all athletes with 28 pars over two rounds.
LeTourneau University and UT Dallas finished the tournament tied for first at +3 (575). LeTourneau's Easton Lampi made a birdie on the playoff hole to clinch the win for the YellowJackets. Concordia University Texas came in third with a 291-294=585 (+13) with UMHB in fourth at 591 (+19). East Texas Baptist and Howard Payne tied for fifth at 595 (+23), followed by Hardin-Simmons at 615 (+43) and McMurry University at 619 (+47).
Daniel Shofner (UT Dallas) and Parker Smith (Concordia Texas) finished tied for first at -4 with Shofner winning the individual medal on a birdie in the playoff hole.
With the win, LeTourneau won the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.
