GEORGETOWN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team earned a second-place finish at the West Regional Invitational Tuesday in Georgetown. UMHB won the tiebreaker against Trinity University to take the runner-up spot.
UMHB shot a 297 (+5) in the final round, finishing at 882 (+18) on the tournament.
Evan Acevedo won a tiebreaker to finish second individually. He finished the tournament at 216 (E), carding a 73 (+1) in the final round.
William Mullin finished sixth, shooting a 73 (+1) in the third round to end with a 220 (+4).
Trey Archer placed 16
th, carding a 224 (+8) with a 75 (+3) in the last round.
Grant Carter placed 18
th after shooting a 72 (E) in the last round to end with a 225 (+9).
Cole MacMillan (+11),
Jack Workman (+15) and
Ian Clough (+20) also competed in the tournament.
LeTourneau won the tournament with an 869 (+5), finishing with a 297 (+9) in the final round. Trinity finished at 882 (+18) with a 304 (+16) in round two, followed Southwestern (+27) and Centenary (+67). Hardin-Simmons (+75), Southwestern B (+82), Howard Payne (+112) and Northwestern-St. Paul (+113) also competed.
UMHB led the tournament in par-3 scoring (+5) and pars (168), ranking among the top three in par-4 scoring, par-5 scoring and birdies.
