Women’s Golf finishes seventh at Jekyll Island Collegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team finished tied for seventh at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday in Jekyll Island. The Cru shot their best round of the tournament on Sunday, despite windy conditions and tough, undulated greens.
 
UMHB finished the tournament with a 312-320-309=941 (+77) to finish tied for seventh. New York University won the tournament with an 898 (+34), followed by Emory in second at 902  (+38). Pomona-Pitzer and Carnegie Mellon tied for third at 909 (+45) with Amherst rounding out the top five at 916 (+52). UMHB came into the tournament ranked 16th, beating three teams who entered ranked above them and tying for seventh with No. 10 Redlands. The Cru was one of just two teams ranked outside of the top ten to finish top ten in the tournament.
 
Camryn Kiser led the Cru in the final round, carding a 73 (+1) to finish the tournament in 15th at +14. Kiser jumped 24 spots in the final round, carding five birdies. Julia Sosa moved up 11 spots to finish 36th, shooting a 77 in the final round to finish the tournament at +20. Katie Rhude and Izzy Crow tied for 44th overall at +22 while Payton Cox finished 85th at +33.
 
UMHB finished top ten in par-3 and par-4 scoring, tallying a fifth-best 138 par in the tournament. Izzy Crow ranked second in par-3 scoring at E while Katie Rhude ranked fourth with 35 total pars.
 
UMHB returns to action April 13th – 14th at the West Region Invitational in Whitney.
