WHITNEY, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team is tied for first place after the opening rounds at the West Region Invitational Monday in Whitney.
UMHB shot a 292-296=588 (+12), tying Trinity University who shot 286-302=588. UMHB shot a +4 in the opening round before carding the tournament's best second round at +8.
Cole MacMillan opened with a 70-68=138 (-6) and leads the tournament after the first two rounds.
Cade Barone is in second with a 70-71=141 (-3).
Lucas Latimer carded a 71=76=147 (+3), placing him seventh, followed by
Colton O'Dell with a pair of 75s, placing him in 11th at +6.
Jack Workman (+10) and
Carter Demske (+11) are also competing for the Cru.
UMHB leads the tournament in par-3 scoring (+5) and pars (108), ranking second in birdies (31), par-5s (-10) and par-4s (+29). Latimer is the tournament leader in par-3 scoring (-1), with MacMillan leading in par-4s (-5) and birdies (11).
Southwestern (+38), Dallas (+40) and Hardin-Simmons (+45) round out the top five with Centenary (+56) and Southwestern B (+60) also competing.
Tournament action continues on Tuesday, April 14th with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
