WHITNEY, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team is in second place after the opening round at the West Region Invitational Monday in Whitney.
UMHB shot a 328 (+40) to finish the round in second place.
Camryn Kiser leads the tournament individually with a 76 (+4) in the first round, carding two birdies.
Brooke Norman is in third with a 77 (+5), followed by
Payton Cox at 82 (+10).
Katie Rhude followed with an 83 (+11) and
Claire Smith with an 84 (+12).
Izzy Crow (+13) and
Julia Sosa (+13) also competed for the Cru.
Trinity University Texas leads the field with a 319 (+31), followed by Hardin-Simmons at 336 (+48) and Southwestern at 343 (+55). Southwestern B (+80) and University of Dallas (+85) also competed for the Cru.
UMHB led the tournament in par-3 scoring (+9), par-4 scoring (+35) and birdies (39). Tournament action continues on Tuesday, April 14th with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
