Baseball places seven on All-ASC teams; Hill named Pitcher of the Year

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team placed seven athletes on the All-American Southwest Conference teams, released Wednesday. UMHB had four athletes named First Team and three chosen Second Team. Alex Hill was also named Pitcher of the Year.
 
Alex Hill was named ASC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Hill, a sophomore from Dallas, earned six wins on the mound this season in 70.1 innings pitched. He gave up just 31 earned runs on the year and ranked third in the conference with 82 strikeouts. Hill threw a WHIP of 1.15 with one complete game. He limited batters to a .206 average in his sophomore campaign. 
 
Taylor McDaniel, Cameron Talburt and Nolan Williams joined Hill on the ASC First Team.
 
Taylor McDaniel, a graduate student from Amarillo, started in 42 games for the Cru. He totaled 53 hits in 149 at-bats, scoring 35 runs with 15 doubles and six home runs. McDaniel also tallied 38 RBI on the season, earning 27 walks with five stolen bases. As a first baseman, McDaniel added 246 putouts with 14 assists and 17 double plays.
 
Cameron Talburt, a senior from Tulsa, started in all 43 games for the Cru. He led the conference with 63 hits, adding 45 runs scored. Talburt slammed 19 extra-base hits, adding seven home runs with 38 RBI on the year. He also stole 23 bases and earned 24 walks. As an outfielder, Talburt totaled 123 putouts with two assists and two double plays.
 
Nolan Williams, a senior from Salado, hit .376 on the season with 62 total hits. Williams drove in 47 runs and scored 49. He totaled 14 home runs with 14 doubles and two triples, totaling 122 bases on the season. Williams started in 42 games, adding 11 stolen bases and 16 walks.
 
Jacob Newland, Landon Pyles and Riley Bender were named Second Team All-ASC.
 
Jacob Newland, a catcher from Longview, played in 35 games this season. Newland hit .281 with 25 hits on 38 at-bats. He scored 27 runs, adding 10 doubles and three home runs. Newland also batted-in 16 runs. He tallied 157 putouts with 17 assists and five runners caught stealing.
 
Landon Pyles, a second baseman from New Braunfels, played in 16 games with 11 starts. He totaled 16 hits on 45 at-bats, adding eight runs scored and 13 RBI. Pyles added 19 putouts and 24 assists with six double plays.
 
Riley Bender, a third baseman from Kingwood, started in all 43 games. He tallied 51 hits with 38 runs scored, adding 46 RBI. Bender totaled 24 extra-base hits with 11 doubles and 12 home runs. He totaled 100 total bases on the year, hitting .298 in his last season with the Cru.

 UMHB finished the 2026 season with a 25-18 overall record.
