Justin Halter was named UMHB’s acrobatics and tumbling assistant coach in August of 2019. Prior to joining the Cru, he began his coaching career in 2001 as a tumbling coach for local cheerleaders in his area. From there, Halter joined the world renowned Karolyi’s Gymnastics Camp in Hunstville, Texas. Halter was twice awarded Coach of the Year with Karolyi’s and was promoted to director of the camp before ending his time there. In 2003, Justin followed his cousins as they opened CSlott Gymnastics in Hunstville, where they trained and coached multiple state champions.
In 2006, Halter was introduced to the world of competitive cheer at Indiana Cheer Elite where his teams captured NCA National Champion titles along with an array of additional national championship titles. Halter then moved back to the state of Texas, he rejoined his cousins as head gymnastics and cheerleading coach from 2007-09. In 2009, Halter began his career at Extreme Cheer and Tumble. Within his second year at Extreme, the gym captured back to back NCA titles. Halter also doubled as the head TNT coach and led an athlete to nationals. Halter has helped coach Extreme's competitive cheer program to various national titles. He currently directs Extreme’s gymnastics program, and works as a tumbling specialist coach, in addition to his work with UMHB’s acrobatics and tumbling team.
Halter and his wife, Denise, have three children – Cameron, Sydney, and Dylan, and a grandchild, Theodora.
