Bales joined the Cru in August 2024 after playing four years of collegiate volleyball at Corban University (2020-2024). During her collegiate career, she was a three-time all-American, two-time conference player of the year, national attacker of the year and made four national tournament appearances. Additionally, she is the school record holder for kills and digs at Corban and is the only player in her conference to record over 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills. Rylee was also named the Cascade Conference Freshman of the Year and North West Regional Player of the Year twice. She was also a three-time member of the NCAA All-Tournament team.

Bales graduated from Corban University in 2024 with a degree in psychology. She has previous experience coaching club volleyball for four years. Rylee is the daughter of Heidi Wood. She and her husband, Chase Bales, were married in June 2024.
