Clinton, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fought back to tie the game, but could not overcome a bad break late in the match as the Cru women fell to Mississippi College 2-1 Thursday afternoon in Clinton, Mississippi. The loss drops the UMHB women to 8-4 overall and 7-2 in American Southwest Conference play. Mississippi College improves to 7-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the ASC with the victory.
The two teams were locked up in a scoreless tie through the first half and the first six minutes of the second half before Mississippi College would take the lead. Samantha Greco scored off an assist from Hannah Langley at the 51:56 mark to make it 1-0 MC. UMHB quickly battled back to tie the match when Erin Salyer scored off Kim Wobecky's assist at the 55:10 mark. It would stay that way until the Cru scored an own goal to give MC a 2-1 lead at the 68:32 mark. UMHB goalkeeper Meredith West came out of the net to clear the ball, but her kick deflected off a Cru teammate and into the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Choctaws. West and Allyson Sargeant combined for four saves in goal for UMHB. Elizabeth Beatty had two saves in goal for Mississippi College as the Choctaws outshot the Cru 13-6 in the match.

The Cru women will close out the road trip with an 11:00 AM start at Louisiana College Saturday in Pineville, Louisiana. The UMHB women will then return home to host McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University next weekend at the Cru Sports Plex.
