Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team could not get the offense untracked as the Cru fell to Trinity University 7-0 in the 2010 home opener Wednesday afternoon in Belton. The loss drops UMHB to 3-2 on the season. The Tigers improve to 3-1 on the season with the victory.
The Tigers grabbed a 1-0 lead when Evan Jones singled home a run in the top of the third inning. Trinity stretched it to 4-0 with a three-run sixth inning. The first run scored on a groundout and Jonathan Hall and Kyle Felix added RBI singles. The Tigers would add one more run in the eighth and two in the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Cameron Arnett took the loss for UMHB to drop to 1-1 after he scattered five hits, struck out two and allowed one earned run in three innings. Ben Klimesh went the distance to Trinity to raise his record to 1-0. Klimesh struck out nine, walked four and allowed six hits in a shutout performance. Hall was 4-6 for the Tigers and Felix and Jones had three hits apiece.

Wednesday's game was also part of the Pink Zone activities at UMHB to help raise awareness of breast cancer. The Cru wore pink uniform tops, pink shoelaces and pink wristbands. UMHB also sold tribute cards and t-shirts will all of the proceeds going to benefit the Kay Yow Foundation for breast cancer research.

The Cru will now be off until next Tuesday. UMHB will host Southwestern University for a 1:00 PM doubleheader at Red Murff Field that day.
