Pineville, LA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team put seven runs on the board in the middle innings and the Cru made it stand up for a 10-5 win over Louisiana College Saturday afternoon in Pineville, Louisiana. UMHB improves to 5-3 on the season with the victory. The loss drops the Wildcats to 2-5 on the season.
The Cru grabbed a 1-0 lead when Andrew White tripled and scored on a Joseph Villegas double in the top of the first inning. Kyle Flynn's RBI fielder's choice in the top of the second made it 2-0 UMHB and the Cru stretched it to 4-0 when Doak Fleming singled home a run and Flynn doubled home another in the top of the fourth. LC put a run on the board in the bottom of the fourth, but UMHB added three in the top of the fifth. Ryan Moreau blasted a three-run homer to give the Cru a 7-1 lead. A pair of homers in the bottom of the fifth cut the lead to 7-3, but UMHB put two more on the board in the top of the sixth on White's two-run homer to make it a 9-3 game. LC would close to within 9-5 with single runs in the seventh and eighth, but a Morgan Sloan RBI double provided some insurance in the top of the ninth for the Cru and Seth Lynn worked out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth to clinch the victory for the Cru.

Jared Hopper earned the win for UMHB with seven innings of six-hit pitching. Hopper allowed three earned runs, struck out four and walked just one. Lynn scattered four hits of two innings of relief for the Cru. White, Villegas, Moreau, Lynn, Fleming and Flynn all had two hits apiece. Villegas also moved to within one RBI of tying Stacy Bishop's school record of 124 career RBI.

The two teams will close out the series with a noon doubleheader tomorrow in Pineville. The Cru will then continue its road trip with a 6:00 PM non-conference game at Southwestern University.
