Belton, TX— The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team used a dominant pitching performance and timely hitting to fashion a 6-0 victory over McMurry University Friday night in Belton. The Cru improves to 20-16 overall and 10-9 in American Southwest Conference West Division play with the victory. The loss drops the War Hawks to 18-20 overall and 11-8 in the ASC West on the year.

UMHB took a 1-0 lead on Braden Embry's RBI single in the bottom of the first inning and pushed it to 2-0 on Zach Young's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. Parker Edmonds added a sacrifice fly of his own in the fourth to stretch the lead to 3-0. The Cru would add runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings on two Seth Lynn RBI singles and an RBI single from Embry. That would be more than enough offense for Cru starter Cameron Arnett. Arnett scattered eight hits in a complete-game shutout to raise his record to 6-2. Arnett struck out eight and walked two. Spencer Smith took the loss for the War Hawks to drop to 5-3.

Embry and Lynn both had three hits and two RBI in the game and Edmonds added two hits to lead a 12-hit attack. Nick Marsh and Kory Moench had two hits apiece for the War Hawks.

The two teams will close out the series and the regular season with a 1:00 PM doubleheader tomorrow at Red Murff Field. The Cru can clinch an ASC Tournament berth with a sweep on Saturday. McMurry can clinch a tournament berth with a split on Saturday.
