Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team rallied from an early deficit and they held on to post a 6-5 victory in game two and salvage a doubleheader split with McMurry University Saturday afternoon in Belton. The Warhawks took game one by a score of 2-1. UMHB wraps up their season with a 21-18 overall record and 11-10 in the ASC on the season.
The Cru kept McMurry scoreless up until the fourth inning when Andrew Bell singled to left field and Nick Marsh scored unearned.
Chris Joshlin started off the bottom of the fourth with a single to center field.
Braden Embry then singled to left field advancing Joshlin to second.
Chris Florack reached on an error. Seth Mogavaro flied out to right field scoring Joshlin to bring the Cru within one to wrap up the fourth. The scoring in the fourth wrapped all scores for both teams in game one.
Chance Ryan pitched a complete-game and only gave up four hits and struck out three on the day.
Chris Joshlin had two of the Cru's 6 hits on the loss.
The War Hawks jumped off to a quick start when Matt Thompson homered to right field. Andrew Bell then singled to right field. Marcellous Biggins singled and scored Bell. McMurry scored three more runs in the third inning. Seth Mogavaro singled to right field in the fourth inning and stole second.
Parker Edmonds then singled to scored Mogavaro.UMHB came alive in the bottom of the seventh inning when
Chris Joshlin,
Braden Embry, Chis Florack and
Josh Fredrick all singled to bring the Cru within three.
Justin Gregory singled to center field in the eighth.
Zach Young flied out to left to score Gregory that brought the Cru within a 5-4 deficit.
Braden Embry singled again to left center in the ninth. Fredrick reached on fielder's choice; Embry scored unearned. UMHB rallied in the 10
th inning to win the season closer 6-5 when
Zach Young and
Braden Embry both singled to score
Tyler Wicks.
Taylor Burrow scattered six hits over seven innings pitched.
Kreece Cooper allowed one hit over three innings of relief.
Braden Embry had three hits on the win and
Chris Joshlin contributed two.The Cru needed to win all three games against McMurry to advance into post season play.
