Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Seguin, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team posted a big game one victory but could not overcome a five-run inning in game two as the Cru split a doubleheader with Texas Lutheran Saturday in Seguin. UMHB won game one 7-1 before falling 5-1 in game two. The Cru is now 11-11 overall and 6-6 in American Southwest Conference West Division play. The Bulldogs move to 20-8 overall and 10-2 in the ASC West on the season following the split.

UMHB grabbed an early lead and never looked back in the 7-1 game one victory. Tori Gomez walked with the bases loaded to open the scoring and a two-run TLU error pushed it to 3-0 Cru in the top of the third. Kourtney Bevers added a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth to make it 4-0 UMHB and the Cru tacked on three more in the fifth. Chandler Henson singled home two runs and another Bulldog error accounted for the final run. TLU scored one in the bottom of the seventh, but that's as close as it would get. Rebekah Ragsdale scattered four hits over five scoreless innings to raise her record to 7-3 for UMHB. Henson and Kelsey Vann had two hits apiece to lead the Cru's 11-hit attack.

The Cru could not recover from TLU's five-run fifth inning in a 5-1 loss in game two. UMHB took an early lead on a run scoring error in the top of the third inning. The Bulldogs then put together five hits, a walk and an error for the five-run fifth and UMHB never recovered. Leanne Hinojosa and Janie Neyland had three hits apiece for the Cru. Halle Sabo took the loss in the circle to fall to 0-4 on the season.

UMHB will now return home to host Pacific Lutheran for a 12:00 PM, non-conference doubleheader on Monday. The Cru will then welcome Sul Ross State to Dee Dillon Field for a four-game ASC West Division series on Thursday and Friday.
