Belton, TX – For the second time in the last three years, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor tennis teams will play host to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The ASC Men's and Women's Tennis Tournament opens Friday and runs through Sunday with matches at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center on the UMHB campus and at Belton High School's Tennis Complex.
 
Both the UMHB men and women have First Round Byes and will open play on their home courts at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center on Saturday. The Cru women will play at 10:00 AM on Saturday and will face the winner of Friday's First Round between U.T.-Tyler (13-3) and Schreiner University (10-6). The UMHB men open play at 2:00 PM Saturday against the winner of Friday's opening round match between U.T.-Dallas (11-4) and Schreiner University (7-11).
 
The UMHB men are making their fourth straight appearance in the ASC Championship Tournament and earned the right to host the tournament when Texas Lutheran forfeited its ASC West Division title after discovering an ineligible player. The Cru is West Division champions for the first time in program history and enters the tournament with a 7-2 record this spring.
 
The Cru women are coming off their second West Division title in the last three years and bring an 8-2 mark into the tournament. UMHB is in the ASC Tournament for the sixth straight year.
 
Friday's other First Round Matches include the Texas Lutheran (7-9) women facing off against Mississippi College (7-6) at 10:00 AM and the Hardin-Simmons (5-13) men taking on Mississippi College (7-8) at 2:00 PM. Both of those matches will be played at Belton High School. The U.T.-Tyler/Schreiner women's First Round match will be played at Yvonne Li at 10:00 AM with the U.T.-Dallas/Schreiner men's match to follow there at 2:00 PM on Friday.
 
The U.T.-Dallas women (13-3) won the East Division and earned a bye to Saturday's Semifinals. The Comets will face either TLU or Mississippi College at Belton High School at 10:00 AM on Saturday. The U.T.-Tyler men (20-3) are East Division champions and face the Hardin-Simmons/Mississippi College winner in a 2:00 PM Semifinal match at Belton High School on Saturday. The ASC Tennis Championship matches will be played Sunday, April 28th, at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center on the UMHB campus. The women's match is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM with the men to follow 30 minutes after completion of the women's match. The ASC Tournament champions also receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
