Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team dominated Texas College on Tuesday night in Belton, earning a 7-0 win over the Steers. The win improves to UMHB to 5-0, the best opening record by a UMHB women's soccer program in the Division III era. Texas College falls to 3-3-1 with the loss.
Kristen Hoelscher scored first for the Cru in the third minute, followed by
Allison Porter at the 14:21 mark.
Ashley Teague came in off the bench for a hat trick and
Kathryn Parker found the back of the net, giving UMHB a 6-0 lead going into halftime. Teague opened up scoring again in the second half off a double assist from Hoelscher and
Eliza Faillace. UMHB held that 7-0 lead until the end of the game.
Teague led the Cru with five shots and four goals while
Irelie Riggle added four shots.
Kristen Hoelscher recorded a team-high two assists with Faillace,
Miranda Aleman and
Maizey Cardy each adding one. UMHB outshot the Steers 19-3 in the match and did not allow a shot in the first half.
Abbigail Minnix earned the win in the goal, recording two saves.
UMHB returns to action Friday with a 5 p.m. against Concordia in Belton.
