Men's Tennis falls to Ozarks in ASC Quarterfinals

Tyler, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team fell behind in doubles and could not recover in a 5-1 loss to the University of the Ozarks in the Quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Tyler. The loss ends the Cru's season at 6-7. The Eagles improve to 11-4 on the season and advance to Saturday's semifinals to face U.T.-Dallas at 2:00 PM.
 
Ozarks swept through doubles with UMHB's Collin Davies and Tevin Ogo falling 8-3 at #1, John Martin and Scott Wilding dropping an 8-4 decision at #2 doubles and Jordan Jackson and Jake Stamps losing 8-4 at #3 doubles. Ozarks' Corey Dillard topped Davies 6-4, 6-0 at #4 singles. Martin posted a 7-6, 6-1 win over Greg Knaggs at #3 singles to cut the gap to 4-1. The Eagles' Tyler Keel then beat UMHB's Jackson 6-4, 6-0 at #5 singles to close out the match. Wilding split sets with Turner at #1 singles and Brandon Atkins split sets with Michael Skimbo at #6 singles.
 
The loss also closes out the UMHB playing careers of Cru seniors Davies and Jimmy Turner. The UMHB men were making their fifth straight ASC Tournament appearance.
