Box Score Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team swept through doubles and then clinched the match with wins at #2 and #3 singles as the Cru knocked off Hardin-Simmons 6-3 Sunday afternoon in Belton. The win clinches the American Southwest Conference West Division title for the UMHB men. The Cru swept doubles and then got a 6-4, 6-0 victory from
Mark Johnson at #3 singles. Jake Stamps clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #2 singles and
John Martin later tacked on a 6-3, 6-1 win at #5 singles for UMHB. The Cru closes out the regular season at 10-3 overall and 4-0 in ASC West Division play with the win. The loss drops the Cowboys to 4-12 overall and 3-1 in the ASC West on the year.
The Cru will now advance to the ASC Championship Tournament as the #1 seed from the ASC West Division and will get a first round bye. The full ASC Tournament bracket will be released Sunday night or Monday morning. Sunday's match was also the final home match for Cru seniors Stamps, Martin,
Tevin Ogo and
T.J. Kittrell.
