Richardson, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team got a pitching gem from Aaron Barteau, but the Cru could not generate any offense to go with it in a 1-0 loss to U.T.-Dallas Thursday in Richardson. UMHB drops to 13-10 overall and 10-6 in American Southwest Conference play with the loss. The Comets improve to 12-13 overall and 9-7 in the ASC with the victory.

U.T.-Dallas scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first inning on a bunt single, a walk, a stolen base and an infield single. UMHB would leave the potential tying run on base in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh innings. The Comets would get a runner to third base in the bottom of the eighth, but the Cru was able to get out of it and leave it 1-0 entering the top of the ninth. UMHB would get a one-out single, but the base runner was thrown out attempting to steal second and a groundout ended the game.

Barteau took the loss to drop to 4-1 on the season. He struck out seven and scattered six hits in seven and two-thirds innings of work. Burrow had two of the Cru's six hits in the loss. Tyler Dauer earned the win for UTD to move to 4-3 on the year. Dauer scattered six hits in a complete-game shutout. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. Brandon Clunch had two of the six hits for the Comets.

The two teams will close out the series with a noon doubleheader Friday in Richardson. The Cru will then return home to open a four-game home stand next Tuesday.
