ALPINE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team completed a three-game sweep of Sul Ross State University with a 13-9 win over the Lobos Saturday afternoon in Alpine. The win improved the Cru to 17-15 on the season and 14-13 in American Southwest Conference play while the Lobos fell to 7-25 overall and 5-19 in league play.
Myranda Hinojosa was the first Crusader to score, giving UMHB a 1-0 lead in the top of the first off an RBI single from
Leah Brown. The Lobos evened the score in the bottom of the first before UMHB scored three in the second, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Hinojosa. Sul Ross State added one more in the bottom of the third to cut UMHB's lead to 4-2. The Cru held that lead until the fifth when UMHB scored six runs.

Leah Brown hit another home run, giving the Cru a 10-2 lead. Sul Ross responded with five runs in the fifth before the Cru added three more in the top of the sixth off an RBI single from
Leah Brown. The Lobos scored two more runs but were unable to catch the Cru, securing the 13-9 win for UMHB. Brown and
Cori Drake led the Cru with four hits each while
Kourtney Cummings,
Kasi Cummings and Hinojosa each scored a team-high three runs. Brown recorded a team-high five RBI followed by Hinojosa with four and Cummings with two.
Haley Parker earned the win in the circle for UMHB, pitching 4.2 innings with seven hits and six earned runs.
Kelsey Knox pitched in relief, going 2.1 innings with five hits and two runs. UMHB totaled 13 runs on 18 hits with four errors while Sul Ross State had nine runs on 12 hits with two errors.
UMHB will host Hardin-Simmons University in its final home series next weekend. The Cru will open play Friday, April 15
th with a 4 p.m. doubleheader and conclude on Saturday, April 16
th with a 1 p.m. single game.
