Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team grabbed the lead after doubles, but lost a pair of heartbreakers in three sets in singles as the Cru dropped a 7-2 decision to Southwestern University Friday in Belton. UMHB is now 0-2 to start the spring while the Pirates improve to 5-1 on the year.
Scott Wilding and
Brendan Thompson teamed for an 8-5 victory at #1 doubles and
Julian Dunmore and
Daniel Riner paired for an 8-4 win at #3 doubles for the Cru. Riner and
Brian Martin both forced third sets in singles, but could not pull out victories. The UMHB men will return to action with an 11:00 AM dual match against LeTourneau on Saturday in Belton.
