Box Score Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team grabbed the lead in doubles and kept the momentum rolling through singles on the way to a 7-2 victory over Linfield College Tuesday in Belton. The Cru improves to 4-2 with its fourth straight win while the loss drops the Wildcats to 4-11 on the year.
Alex Mackellar and
Cole Weiss gave UMHB a 1-0 lead with a win at #2 doubles and
Scott Wilding and
Brendan Thompson added a victory at #1 doubles to make it 2-1 going into singles play.
Julian Dunmore posted a win at #4 singles and Thompson's straight set win at #2 singles gave the Cru a 4-1 edge. Linfield took #3 singles but Wilding clinched the win with a three-set victory at #1 singles. Mackellar added an insurance point with a win at #5 singles and
Brian Martin closed it out with a victory at #6 singles for the Cru.
UMHB will host Schreiner University for a non-conference match at 1:00 PM on Friday. The Cru will then open American Southwest Conference West Division play at home against Sul Ross State at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
