ALPINE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team took the final game of a three-game series over Sul Ross State Friday afternoon in Alpine, beating the Lobos 6-0 to win the series 2-1. UMHB improved to 19-9 on the season and 13-5 in American Southwest Conference action while the Lobos fell to 14-15 overall and 11-10 in league play.
UMHB opened with a three-run first inning to gain advantage on SRSU.

Kourtney Cummings. UMHB extended that lead with two runs in the fourth inning when
Lizzie Bowne and
Whitney Flournoy scored on an error. The Cru added its sixth run in the top of the sixth when
Linsey Tomlinson scored on an RBI single from
Dusti Douglas. Dawson and Flournoy led the Cru with two hits each while six Crusaders scored runs.
CeCe Darilek earned the shutout win for the Cru, pitching a full seven innings with just two hits allowed. Darilek struck out two and walked just one, facing 25 batters. Christen Santos and Jackie Gonzalez combined in the circle for Sul Ross. Santos took the loss, allowing six runs in five innings of work. UMHB totaled six runs on 10 hits with two errors while the Lobos had no runs on two hits with one error.
The Cru returns to action April 6
th – 7
th, hosting Belhaven University in a home ASC series. The series opens Friday, April 6
th with a 4 p.m. contest and concludes Saturday, April 7
th with a noon doubleheader.
