BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team grabbed the lead in doubles and then swept the last four singles matches to take a 6-3 victory over McMurry University Friday in Belton. The Cru improves to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in American Southwest Conference West Division play with the win. The loss drops the War Hawks to 5-11 overall and 2-3 in the ASC West on the spring.
Cole Weiss and
Jace Mahan teamed up for an 8-1 win at #2 doubles and
Alex Mackellar and
Brian Martin followed with an 8-3 victory at #3 doubles to give UMHB the lead. Weiss sandwiched a win at #4 singles between McMurry victories at #1 and #2 singles.
Josh Roselius won in straight sets at #3 singles for UMHB and Mackellar clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at #6 singles. Mahan would add an insurance point with a win at #5 singles to close out the match.
The match was the final home match for Cru seniors
Jake Boles and Mackellar. The UMHB men will close out the regular season with an ASC West Division match at Concordia Texas next Friday.
