GLADEWATER, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team kept its hot streak to open the fall schedule as the Cru posted its third consecutive team victory with a win at the Tiger Fall Classic Tuesday in Gladewater. UMHB has now won all three of its tournaments to open the fall.
The UMHB women posted a 317-318=635 team total to pull away for a 29-shot victory over tournament host East Texas Baptist's second place total of 333-331=664. Hardin-Simmons University finished in third place with a 327-343=670 team score and Howard Payne University rounded out the four-team field with a 386-365=751 total.
The Cru's
Annie Hasselbach won individual medalist honors after carding an 80-75=155. Her final round 75 was the lowest round of the tournament and Hasselbach edged Emily Watson of ETBU by one stroke to win the individual title.
Sydney McConnell finished third individually after shooting 78-91=159,
Jo Tiger took fourth place with an 80-80=160 and
Sarah Kmiecik also finished in the top five, holding down fifth place with a 79-82=161.
Lily Self claimed ninth place after posting an 83-84=167,
Leah Tyner shot 87-87=174 for 15
th place,
Zoe Kelton's 87-90=177 was good for a tie for 16
th place and
Molly Rodeffer tied for 18
th place with a 93-97=190 total.
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,851-yard layout at The Tempest Golf Club in Gladewater. The UMHB women will return to action with the Lady Crusader Stonetree Invitational. That tournament will be played October 26-27
th at Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen.
