Men's Tennis opens spring schedule on Saturday

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team will open a new era with the start of the spring season on Saturday, February 8th. The Cru will welcome Southwestern University to the Yvonne Li Tennis Center for a 10 am start in the program's first dual match with Daniel White as head coach.

White is a former UMHB tennis standout who took over the program this summer following the retirement of long-time Head Coach James Cohagan. White has four letter winners returning from a team that advanced to the Quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament last season. The UMHB men finished that year with a 7-7 overall record and the Cru were picked to finish fourth in the West Division in the conference's Preseason Coaches Poll. Seniors Jace Mahan and Cole Weiss are the top two returners and were both named to the ASC Preseason Players to Watch list.

Southwestern will bring a 1-0 record into Saturday's match after the Pirates opened the spring with a win over St. Thomas. The Southwestern men are ranked 30th in the country in the current ITA National Rankings.

Saturday's match will be the only home match for the UMHB men this month. The Cru will open conference play with a road match at Sul Ross State on March 21st.
