BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team fell 4-2 to LeTourneau University in the series finale Saturday afternoon in Marshall. UMHB fell to 4-6 on the season and 1-2 in American Southwest Conference play while the YellowJackets improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league action.
Callie Poore scored Mickenzie Murry in with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to give LeTourneau an early lead. The YellowJackets added another solo run inning in the second before
Milly Cesare ripped a single up the middle to score
Bailey Eggleston and cut the lead to one. LeTourneau held onto the one-run lead until the sixth inning when Hana Bonner scored on an error and Bailey Richey reached home on an RBI single. UMHB's
Taylor Holman opened the seventh inning with a double before
Milly Cesare scored her with an RBI single. UMHB had the bases loaded but was unable to score again, falling 4-2 to LeTourneau.
Cesare led the Cru with five hits while
Elissa Elliott and
Taylor Holman each added two.
Bayleigh Grogan took the loss for UMHB, pitching two innings with two runs allowed.
Camryn Rucker and
Kylee Flores pitched in relief. AlysaTorres earned the win in the circle for LeTourneau, allowing just five hits and one run in 4.2 innings of work. UMHB totaled two runs on nine hits with three errors while the YellowJackets had four runs on eight hits with two errors.
UMHB returns to action on Monday, March 1
st in a 4 p.m. exhibition doubleheader against Hill College at Dee Dillon Field in Belton.
