Men's Golf finishes second at Alamo City Classic

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team fired another consistent round, but tournament host Trinity University set a blistering pace as the Cru finished in second place at the Alamo City Classic Tuesday in San Antonio.
 
UMHB followed up an opening-round 285 with a 289 on Tuesday to finish with a 574 team total for second place. Trinity shot eight-under in the final round to finish with a 287-276=563 to win the team championship. University of Dallas finished third after recording a 285-290=575, one stroke behind the Cru, Texas Lutheran's 289-289=578 was good for fourth place and Centenary College rounded out the top five with a 291-297=588 team score. An eight-team field competed in the event.
 
William Sammons was the low individual finisher for UMHB after carding a three-under par 70-69=139 to finish in second place. Ari Saldana tied for third place after firing a 70-70=140, Luis Legarreta, Jr. posted a 73-74=147 to finish in a tie for 17th place and Kaden Treybig also earned a spot in the top 20, tying for 20th place with a 72-76=148. Nikolas Keratsopoulos recorded a 76-79=155 for the Cru to finish 32nd. Trinity's D.J. Springer won individual medalist honors after firing a five-under par 69-68=137 total.
 
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-71, 6,703-yard layout at The Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio. The UMHB men will return to action with another trip to San Antonio. The Cru will compete in the San Antonio Shootout on February 22nd and 23rd at TPC San Antonio.
