MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling team earned its first win of the 2021 season with a 259.540-231.030 win over East Texas Baptist University Saturday evening in Marshall.
UMHB opened the meet with strong performances in Compulsory. The Cru scored a 9.3 in Compulsory Acro, 9.5 in Compulsory Pyramid and a 9.650 in Compulsory Toss. UMHB beat the Tigers 36.950-35.700 in the Compulsory event. The Cru opened the Acro event with a 9.40 in the first heat and cruised to a 27.150-25.900 win in that event. The Toss event saw three heats of 9.0+ scores for the Cru as UMHB totaled 28.300 in the event, going into halftime with a 92.400-88.250 lead.
The Cru opened the second half of competition with a 25.500 total in Toss and outscored the Tigers 48.750-36.500 in Tumbling. UMHB's team event scored them 92.890 points while East Texas Baptist totaled 82.380 giving the Cru their first win of the season and second win in program history.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, March 25
th in a 7:00 p.m. (MT) meet at Arizona Christian University in Glendale, Ariz. The Cru then returns home for a pair of meets on April 1
st against Hawaii Pacific and April 6
th against East Texas Baptist.
